Railway Recruitment - RRB JE Syllabus

RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) has announced around 13,561 vacancies for the Recruitment of Junior Engineer Posts that will be conducted online. RRB JE could be a great opportunity for those candidates who are searching for a job in Indian Railways Department. Railway JE post can offer you a government job with a good salary package.

Thousands of engineering students will be working hard to perform well in the exam and qualify to get their career set in Railways. For qualifying RRB JE exam, student’s preparation has to be smart enough, and hence understanding RRB Junior Engineer Syllabus.

Railway Recruitment Board Exam for Junior Engineer Post is conducted in 2 stages. 1st Stage RRB JE will be a computer based test (CBT) that will be conducted online.

Railway JE Syllabus will be different for both the stages as 1st stage would comprise of non-technical subjects including General Aptitude, General Science and General Awareness and 2nd Stage would be Technical from engineering subjects aligned with your stream. For both the exams, questions will be objective type [MCQ’s].

Like other competitive exams, in RRBs JE also has negative marking for the incorrect answer.  For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the mark allotted will be deducted.
 

RRB JE Cut off Marks [Common for CBT-1 and CBT-2]:

The category-wise minimum passing percentage for qualifying RRB JE CBT 1 Exam is listed below:

  1. General:  40%
  2. OBC: 30%
  3. SC: 30%
  4. ST: 25%

 

RRB JE Syllabus – Stage 1 CBT

The 1st stage of Railway JE CBT Exam will have 100 questions carrying 100 marks and time limit will be 90 minutes. Exam Questions in this section will be asked form the following categories.

Mathematics:

Number System (HCF, LCM, BODMAS, Square Root, Decimals and Fractions), Mensuration, Algebra, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Elementary Statistics, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Mensuration, Percentage, Geometry and Trigonometry, Pipes and Cistern, Age Calculations, Calendar and Clock

 

General Intelligence and Reasoning:

Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Difference , Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions

 

General Awareness:

2nd Stage of RRB JE Exam Syllabus (CBT-2)

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will conduct Stage 2 Railway JE exam for students qualifying JE CBT 1.

The 2nd Stage of Railway Junior Engineer Exam will have 150 Questions (Objective type) carrying 150 marks.Time duration of this 2nd stage RRB JE paper is 2 hours.

The RRB JE shortlisted candidates for 2nd stage CBT will be at the rate of 15 times. The shortlisting of candidates for 2nd stage will be done based on the merit of 1st stage of CBT.

The candidates, who get shortlisted for stage 2 CBT, are advised to go through the Railway Recruitment Board official site where you can download the e-call letter for appearing in the 2nd stage of CBT.
