Railway Recruitment (RRB JE) Exam

Railway Recruitment Board - RRB has released centralized employment notice for the recruitment of Junior Engineer (JE) and Junior Engineer (Information Technology) [JE (IT)] on 29th December 2018. The RRB JE recruitment 2018-19 announces for total 13,561 vacancies of Junior Engineers Post.

Who Can Apply for RRB JE Exam?

Candidates who have completed three years Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology are eligible to apply for the Railway JE Recruitment Exam.

But, the students who are waiting for their final results for the mentioned educational qualification are not eligible to apply for this examination. Candidates who are applying for the RRB JE posts should ensure that they possess or fulfill the eligibility criteria, as on the closing date of online registration which is 31.01.2019.

Age Limit: 18-33 years – RRB JE Notification Release Date i.e. 01-01-2019

Scale of Pay: For Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer (Information Technology) [JE (IT)], Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA):- Level 06 (RSRP 7th CPC Pay Matrix.) with initial pay of Rs. 35400/-, and also includes other allowances applicable at the time of RRB JE Recruitment.

What is the RRB JE Exam Pattern for 2019?

Railway Junior Engineer Exam is a Computer Based Test [CBT] that will be conducted online in two different stages.

1st Stage - Computer Based Test (CBT) - Tentatively Railway JE Exam Date is scheduled during April or May, 2019.

  • 1st stage of Railways JE CBT is common for all the notified posts.
  • Duration of the RRB JE exam is 90 minutes. (120 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe)
  • No of Questions are 100.

The score obtained by candidates in 1st stage of railway recruitment board exam is normalized and the normalized score will be used to shortlist the candidates for the 2nd stage CBT.

Questions will be objective, multiple choice types and will be picked from Subjects Mathematics, General Intelligence, Reasoning, and General Science.

Railways Junior Engineer Exam - 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) –

The 2nd Stage of CBT Exam Date shall be notified through Railway Recruitment Board Exam (RRB) websites.

  • Duration of RRB JE Exam Paper is 120 minutes (160 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe)
  • No of Questions will be 150.

The number of candidates who will be shortlisted for 2nd stage will be 15 times more community wise than the total number of vacancies for any posts notified and will be as per the merit in 1st stage of CBT.

Questions will be objective, multiple choice types and will be picked from General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control and Technical abilities for the post.

Note: For 2nd Stage RRB JE Exam CBT, Virtual Calculator will be made available by the Railway Recruitment Board.

Junior Engineer Post Selection Process and Criteria

The documentation verification of the candidates will be initiated only for the candidates who were shortlisted from stage 2 CBT. The number of candidates selected from railway JE exam CBT-2 will be same as the number of vacancies announced by RRB JE Exam Board.

Also, extra candidates will be selected to maintain a standby list of about 50% vacancies notified. But, the extra list of candidates will be considered for employment only on shortfall in number from merit list or as replacement of non-joining candidates or as per other special requirements.

The candidates who get selected are appointed only after passing the Medical Fitness Test. This test will be conducted by Railway Administrative Board. Also, the candidates should pass the final verification of educational qualification, community certificates and other certificates as required.
